Priorities

The Rossotti Family Foundation has three pillars: education, music, and access to justice. In the areas of education and access to justice our funding is limited to organizations working in the Washington, DC, and Chicago, IL, metro areas. In the area of music, our funding is open to organizations operating anywhere in the United States.

Education

The Rossotti Family Foundation supports organizations that help children and young adults achieve their educational and professional goals, whether that means entering college or vocational school, or entering the workforce directly after high school. We have a particular focus on supporting organizations that work with middle and high school aged children from low-income families or underserved areas to enhance their educational success. This work may include mentoring and support; supplementary enrichment and internship programs, such as in science, business, and the arts; and programs to train students in life and safety skills such as financial literacy, swimming, and health. An example of an organization in this category is Spark The Journey.

Music

The Rossotti Family Foundation supports musical performing arts organizations, particularly vocal performers, such as choruses and opera companies. Vocal performances have the power to inspire, to awe, to soothe, and to bring people together through a shared love of music. We particularly focus on supporting community-based musical groups where our funding can have a real impact. We look for organizations that provide high quality arts programming to the community, access and engagement in the arts to low income and underserved communities, and support for promising young artists. An example of an organization in this category is the Choral Arts Society of Washington, DC.

Access to Justice

The Rossotti Family Foundation supports organizations that provide free or affordable legal services to low-income individuals and non-profit community groups, as well as organizations in the legal field that work toward increasing access to justice and achieving a fair and equitable judicial system. We believe it is important to support these organizations in light of the staggering number of people who need legal help but can't afford it. An example of an organization in this category is the Chicago Bar Foundation.
